Posted on December 19, 2022December 21, 2022

The artist is Repin

All portraits of the painter are “different”, they reflect different characters and moods of people. In 1876, a “portrait of Ivan Shishkin” was created. The figure of the seated landscape painter is shifted to the left and as if internally tense, and cold detachment froze in his gaze. Repin managed to convey the mental trauma of Ivan Shishkin, which was associated with the loss of his wife and two children.

Shishkin Ivan Ivanovich (1832–1898) – artist, landscape painter, author of paintings "Ship grove", "Winter", "Oak trees" From the collection of the Russian Museum.
