The attraction to the moonlight passes through all the work of Kuindzhi. A lot of work of the recluse period is devoted to this romantic motive. The unusual effects, beauty and poetry of moonlight inspired the artist and experimenting with paints in search of new means of artistic expressiveness in small, kind of laboratory sketches, and to create the works of a picture plan, in which the master seeks to convey not only the illusion of light, but also his mysterious the charm.
