Early spring. Flood

Posted on May 18, 2023December 21, 2022

The artist is Savrasov

The topic of spring permeated all the work of Savrasov, and any spring motive turned under the artist’s brush into a penetrating image of a beginning to come to life. The combination of an objective-concrete image with some particularly delicate, even enthusiastic attitude to nature is one of the most important features of the master’s paintings.

In the picture „Early spring. The flood “The most inexhaustible motive – trees with bended naked branches on small islets of melt water – turns under the brush of Savrasov into a sensed image of a beginner to come to life, still a complete cold of nature. The admiration of the artist by the native nature is felt in an expressive picturesque manner, in how a variety of colors the sky is different, throwing green-
Vatu and pinkish reflections on the water, as a forest melting in a haze and outlines of the far coast of the river are delicately transferred in a haze. Exhibition catalog in Malaga “Seasons. Works from the collection of the Russian Museum “. 2015. With. 54-55.
