View of the village of Kokoz in Crimea

Posted on December 19, 2022December 21, 2022

The artist is Orlovsky

Oryol’s painting, at first not quite free (“Kokoz village in Crimea” 1868, which was part of the meeting of the Academy of Arts) became a little widespread, and the flavor began to enrich himself. Good draftsman, Orlovsky placed well -set and located figures in his paintings.
The artist’s paintings are very diverse both by nature (from Finland to the Crimea) and in content (cloudy day, winter lunar night, sunset, autumn spill, etc. D.). He wrote swamps, overgrown ponds, as well as meadows and fields, birch and grab forests, giving them a romanticized look, playing with light; But his specialty is mainly open species, not the inside of the forest. Orlovsky is more often a good observer of nature than the seeker of poetic moods, although he was not devoid of the latter (for example, the “Winter Moonnaya Night”, which was part of the collection of Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich).
