Sea view. Storm at sea

Posted on December 19, 2022December 21, 2022

The artist is Aivazovsky

Being a painter of the main naval headquarters, Aivazovsky constantly participated in the training swimming of navy ships, military operations, expeditions and maneuvers. Impressions and field sketches served the artist material for sea landscapes. This canvas, devoid of colorful effects, with its restrained blue-green tonality and dense, material painting fully characterizes the work of the famous Marinist of the 1870s. It was at this time that the artist beloved by the artist was enriched by the feeling of imminent death of the ship in the open sea. At the same time, the artist still searches in nature states close to the experiences of the human soul. So in this work, where the sea space is interpreted as a grandiose, disproportionate and unquenchable power, notes of loneliness and melancholy sound.
